Consider a card table instead of an
expensive desk
Are
you just starting out with a new small business? Or maybe you’re a
college student? For anyone on a tight budget, a card table is a
great choice in lieu of a computer desk. The same purpose is served,
but at a fraction of the cost. Card tables can also pull double duty
as both a desk and general workstation or office supplies
storage area.
Tips on choosing the right
card table
for your home office
First,
don’t skimp on surface area with the table you buy unless you
have no choice. A traditional office desk usually also holds a phone, fax
machine, and many office supplies. Expect your card table to do so as
well.
Get a
sturdy card table. You don’t want to risk it collapsing and ruining
your expensive equipment. It’s taking the place of a bulky desk made to
handle a lot of weight, so it needs to be solid.
Choose
card tables with stain-resistant surfaces. You might be
keeping printer ink cartridges, pens, and other fluids on it.
Just as with a regular office desk, you don’t want to ruin your work area
when something inevitably spills on the surface of the table.
