Get organized:
become a smart office supplies shopper
Yes,
office supplies can be fun to shop for – you’ll find nifty little devices
you never knew existed. Which desk accessories do you really
need? To get you organized, here is the office supplies checklist of must-have
accessories!
Time organizing
supplies: Add a calendar to your desktop. Don’t get
the great big blotter pad that will just clutter your office desk. You will only use it as a coaster and
sketchpad. Get a handy organizer to write down important tasks and
appointments. The less bulky, the better.
Office space
organization: Get peripheral supplies, like a monitor stand with
shelves to organize your office desk. This is a little mini
bookstand that does double duty. It allows your computer monitor
to sit higher and paper to be organized without those flimsy trays.
To organize
software CDs: A
personal or car CD organizer is on the list of must-have office
supplies. Get one where you can hold the insert (for CD-key
numbers in case you have to re-install) next to the CD in clear
sleeves. Then dump the jewel cases.
Shop for office supplies online
When shopping for
office supplies, skip the all-in-one, 10-compartment
organizers for your office desk. After several very un-scientific (but realistic)
experiments, we’ve found you can’t get just one piece of tape without
knocking out all of the paper clips. You can’t get one rubber band
without dragging 3 pens with you.
Be practical when
shopping for office supplies. Get specific desk helpers – if you use a lot of
tape, invest in the heavy tape dispenser. Paper clips are
easiest in the magnetic top container, and pens will only get
put away if you have a big cylindrical cup to store them. These
supplies are ubiquitous and inexpensive, but can really help you get
your office organized quickly.
